Soda ash light has a lower bulk density (approximately 500–600 kg/m³) and finer particle size compared to dense grade, giving it faster dissolution characteristics and more uniform mixing in liquid formulations and chemical reactions. In soap manufacturing, soda ash light is used to neutralise LABSA (producing sodium LAS detergent) and as an alternative alkali to caustic soda for milder saponification processes. In liquid detergent formulation, it acts as a pH builder and water softener. The fine particle size also makes light soda ash the preferred grade for certain chemical synthesis processes where rapid dissolution and high reactivity are required. In water treatment, soda ash light dissolves faster than dense grade, making it preferable for dosing systems and automated feeders.
