LABSA is the key active ingredient in virtually all liquid dish wash products, liquid laundry detergents, all-purpose cleaners, car shampoos, floor cleaners, and industrial cleaning formulations. It is neutralised with caustic soda (NaOH) or soda ash to produce sodium LAS (SLAS), the final anionic surfactant that provides the cleaning and foaming action in finished products. LABSA 96% contains 96% active matter (alkylbenzene sulphonic acid) and 4% non-sulphonated material. It is a dark brown, viscous liquid with a strong characteristic odour.
