Naphtha (Industrial Grade)

Industrial naphtha (petroleum naphtha, CAS 64742-89-8) is a clear, colourless hydrocarbon solvent cut from crude distillation, supplied by Global Chemicals LLC in light, medium and heavy grades with boiling ranges within 30–200 °C, flash points from −4 °C to 38 °C and aromatic content of 10–25% depending on the grade, to ASTM specifications. It ships from stock in Muscat in 20 L and 200 L drums, 1,000 L IBCs, ISO tanks and bulk.

Choosing the grade. Light naphtha evaporates fastest and is the cleaning and degreasing solvent of metal-fabrication shops, engine-component cleaning and the manufacturing tenants of Sohar Industrial Port, where it leaves no residue on parts. Medium grades (the VM&P naphtha of the paint trade) thin alkyd and oil-based coatings and are the diluent in adhesives, sealants and gravure printing inks. Heavy naphtha, slower and stronger, dissolves rubber, bitumen and asphalt in tyre and rubber compounding, roofing and road-material processing. Aromatic content sets solvency: higher aromatics dissolve more resin but carry more odour and a lower exposure limit. As a feedstock, naphtha is reformed into benzene, toluene and xylene and cracked into olefins at refinery and petrochemical complexes; our supply is the solvent grade for industrial users rather than refinery-scale feedstock. Handling: naphtha is highly flammable (UN 1268, Class 3) and its vapour is heavier than air, so store drums closed in a ventilated, shaded, bunded area away from ignition sources, earth and bond containers during transfer, use explosion-proof pumps and wear nitrile gloves and goggles. Avoid skin contact and keep exposure within the workplace limit for the grade. Every delivery carries a certificate of analysis giving distillation range, flash point, density and aromatics, a technical data sheet and a GHS safety data sheet.
