Calcium chloride (CaCl₂) completion and workover brine is one of the most widely used wellbore fluid systems in Oman's oilfield operations. CaCl₂ brines are prepared at controlled densities by adjusting concentration — a 32% CaCl₂ solution achieves 11.6 lb/gal (1.39 SG), covering the density range required for most Oman reservoir completions. The brine is non-damaging to formation permeability (chloride brines are compatible with most formation minerals), stable across a wide temperature range, and non-flammable.
