In boiler water treatment, sodium sulphite is the most cost-effective oxygen scavenger for low- and medium-pressure boilers (below 40 bar) — reacting with dissolved oxygen in feedwater to form sodium sulphate, preventing corrosive oxygen pitting of boiler steel and feedwater lines.
