    The most common industrial concentration of liquid caustic soda in Oman is 32% (specific gravity ~1.33) and 48–50% (specific gravity ~1.50). The 32% grade is widely used for water treatment pH dosing because it is less viscous, easier to pump at ambient temperature, and safer to handle. The 48–50% grade is used in industrial chemical processes, textile scouring, and refinery gas scrubbing where a more concentrated alkali solution reduces transport and storage volume. In Oman's climate, the 50% grade requires heated storage above 12°C to prevent crystallisation in cooler months. PAEW water treatment plants typically use 30–32% liquid caustic for continuous dosing.

    Liquid caustic soda is dosed using chemical metering pumps — typically diaphragm or peristaltic type — drawing from a bulk storage tank and injecting into the treated water pipeline at a controlled rate.
